The changes will take effect on Friday at 1 p.m. on U.S. 70 in Carteret, Craven and Lenoir counties; N.C. 58 in Emerald Isle and N.C. 24 in Cape Carteret.
The timing changes favor the movement of traffic on the main roads away from the coast and may cause delays on side streets.
The implementation times may change if conditions warrant. The traffic signals will revert back to the normal timing plans on Saturday, Aug. 27, at noon.
