Traffic To Your Website | Update: What You Need To Know When Irene Arrives In New Jersey

Keeping connected

If the electricity is out, land lines should still work, but cordless phones will not.

Mobile networks may get congested, and calls may not go through; text messages have a better chance.

Make sure your mobile phone is fully charged.

Be sure to have a car charger handy as you may not be able to recharge mobile phones at electrical outlets. Having backup batteries for mobile phones provides an added layer of security.

ATM, computer tips

ATMs will not work in a power outage if the location has no generator backup, so get cash before the storm hits in case you need it.

Get computers out of basements or other areas where there could be flooding. Be sure to back up data and shut down and unplug computer equipment to avoid damaging power surges.
